Our spinal column, made up of 24 independent vertebrae, is what allows our body to move, twist and bend through every motion within our busy day. It also encases our spinal cord, the delicate nerve tissue that carries and controls all communication between our brain and our body (via the nervous system). When these vertebrae aren’t sitting on top of each other correctly, and there is pressure being placed on the nerve, communication can be affected. Imagine for a moment a kink in a garden hose, and how that pressure can affect the flow of water. The flow of energy from the brain to the body, and vice versa, can be affected similarly. As in every other aspect of life, communication is key. Getting your 'spine checked' is a way of removing that proverbial kink from the garden hose, allowing your body to experience optimal communication and function, for optimal health and wellbeing.

It is the spinal misalignments at the foundation of our core that can contribute to body imbalances (one shoulder or one hip being higher than the other for example), resulting in symptoms of pain, discomfort, tension, and decreased mobility in the body. Unfortunately, by the time pain and symptoms appear, the problem may have been present for awhile (months, even years) allowing fibrous adhesions and scar tissue to form, and muscle compensation patterns to develop.

But you are a self-healing organism, and when given the proper tools and guidance, it is possible for your body to repair and heal. This is why I address muscles, bones and fascia during our appointment - to help create an optimal environment for recovery and healing. As a result, sessions include a variety of therapeutic massage techniques, myofascial therapies, stretching, active release techniques, and breath work, in addition to the chiropractic adjustment.

This style of body alignment therapy is a uniquely integrated, hands on approach to improving alignment and restoring balance within the WHOLE body.

Because in my opinion, life is about thriving, rather than just merely surviving - so let’s thrive together!
